MARCO ISLAND'S IVY-LEAGUE TRAINED DERMATOLOGIST CARING FOR YOUR SKIN   

Dr. Silvia F. Garcia MD is a board certified dermatologist, fully trained in medical diagnosis and treatment in conditions of the hair, skin, and nails. She has been in private practice on Marco Island since 2000. She was born in New York City but grew up in nearby New Jersey. Childhood trips to Naples and Marco Island planted the seed for her love of our beautiful corner of Florida, and she was determined to live and practice here. After graduating with her B.A. in Biology from Barnard College, Columbia University, she then obtained her Medical Doctor degree from Yale University, where she was was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and graduated cum laude. 

Dr. Garcia completed her Internal Medicine internship at Stanford University, Palo Alto, California, where she remained to complete her Dermatology specialty residency in 1998. She obtained extensive additional training in cutaneous lasers at the Beckman Institute at UC-Irvine, and pursued post-doc elective training in autoimmune diseases at Hospital Clinico, Barcelona, Spain. After working at several different practices in California, New York, and Florida, she opened her own practice in 2000. 

She provides evaluation and treatment for all ages and skin concerns, including:
*Skin cancers---most frequently Melanoma, Squamous Cell Carcinoma, Basal Cell carcinoma--she performs dermatoscopy, biopsies and excisions in the office.
